Enterprise Adoption of Information Worker Capabilities

In the past decade, companies have achieved significant business benefit by reengineering redesigning, and automating transactional business processes through enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM), and other transactional system initiatives. Now, with the advent of information worker platforms, organizations are realizing measurable business value by optimizing unstructured work—the work that falls outside of transactional processes such as processing e-mails, creating reports, and managing meetings. By responding to trends in globalization, connectedness, compliance, and a new workforce generation that embraces and expects technology solutions, these new technologies can dramatically increase the productivity of information workers. If successfully adopted, they can improve competitiveness, innovation, and profitability.

To fully realize these benefits, however, organizations must ensure that information worker capabilities are embedded in the fabric of the enterprise. Like transactional systems, they need to be successfully integrated into the business through careful planning and well-managed implementations.

This whitepaper, by Jon Greville (Microsoft Information Worker Business Strategy Consulting Group), looks at how information worker systems can be successfully deployed and adopted into the Enterprise.
