Quick Tips:

Install the failover cluster feature

1. In the Initial Configuration Tasks interface (displayed after you install Windows Server 2008), click Add features under Customise This Server.
Note: If the Initial Configuration Tasks interface is not displayed and Server Manager is not running, click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click Server Manager. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue. In Server Manager, click Add Features under Features Summary.

2. In the Add Features Wizard, click Failover Clustering, and then click Install.

3. Follow the instructions in the wizard to install the feature. Repeat the process for each server that you want to include in the cluster.

Install an operating system on a virtual machine

1. In the Virtual Machines section of the results pane, right-click the name of the virtual machine you created, and then click Connect. The Virtual Machine Connection tool starts.

2. On the Action menu in the Virtual Machine Connection window, click Start, and proceed through the installation.

After the operating system is set up, you can install the integration services.

Centralise the Security Configuration Database

You may want to maintain the Security Configuration Database in a central location that can be used throughout your organisation. Keeping the database in a central location enables local administrators in multiple locations to use the same Security Configuration Database.

To specify a centralised configuration database, use the following command: scw.exe /kbSCWKBDirectoryLocation
