AutoRoute will help you find an address or place even if you don’t know all of the location details.
- In the Find box on the Advanced toolbar, type the address or the name of the place you want to find. For an address, type as much information as you have about the location, including the street address, city, country, and post code. You can use abbreviations, such as St for Street and Ave for Avenue. To locate a place, enter any specific place you would find on a map—a city, geographic landmark, business, attraction or airport. For example, London, Mont Blanc or the Eiffel Tower.
- Click the Find a location icon. A list of places that most closely match the address or place you entered will appear. Select the address or place you’re searching for.
- Click OK. AutoRoute will create a digital pushpin—just like the pins you stick in a paper map—for this location so that you can quickly find it again.
- When connected to the Internet, you can click the Bing™ Maps button on the Standard toolbar to see the location in a 2D, 3D, aerial or bird’s eye view.
Find Tips
You can also search for motorways and motorway junctions. |
Post codes are especially helpful. |
Including country names reduces search times. |
Do not include a flat, suite, Post Office Box number, or rural route address in the street address. Also, do not use fractions (for example, if the address is 654 1/2 Carlson Street, type 654 Carlson St). |
If you are unsure how to spell a street or city name, type the closest approximation you can. |
To find a crossroad, type two street names separated by an ampersand (&). For example, Great Russell Street & Dyott Street |
Avoid using abbreviations in place names (for example, use Fort instead of Ft). |
Separate the place name, city and country with commas. For example, Chelsea, London, UK. |
