I like the new ribbon because it's more efficient to locate specific features or tasks that I commonly need.
With the addition of Outlook and better SharePoint capability from a Mac, our organization is excited for this release of Office for Mac 2011. It will allow for easier sharing of documents across platforms and relieves a formerly cumbersome process for users on a Mac.
Mac and PC users now have access to the same functionality and tools on both sides, which will lead to enhanced collaboration. There is also a major improvement in performance in Excel and a great new user interface; I can’t wait for this release of Office for Mac 2011!
For Outlook specifically, Outlook for Mac is on par with Windows Outlook with this release.
Due to usability improvements, I don’t have to run as many training classes since people are already familiar with Outlook and have a short learning curve.
I think Outlook 2011 will provide additional value for users on a Mac and improved communications and collaboration with e-mail, calendaring, and synching.
The user experience, the speed and the functionality are much improved over 2008. Good choice to merge the ribbon and the Mac which will increase day-to-day productivity and actually save time, wow!
The launch times are much quicker, which makes everyone more productive, and the database structure for Outlook is more secure by being stored as separate files. I love the Outlook calendar and the fact that it can be overlaid with other calendars. Very nice!
