Microsoft Messenger for Mac 7 provides real-time collaboration between people in different locations by using different communication options. These include instant messaging (IM), audio calls, and video calls. Messenger for Mac 7 provides two types of communication services, corporate and personal.

Corporate A corporate account uses the Office Communications Server 2007 service. Contacts that a user adds to his or her corporate account can include coworkers in the same company and, if authorized, associates on federatedTwo or more organizations that are linked by using Office Communications Server 2007. After you add a federated contact to your Contact List, you can communicate with the contact by using any communication mode that is available in both organizations. networks.
Corporate account IM conversations are not limited to conversations with other Messenger for Mac users. With the Office Communications Server 2007, corporate account users can have IM conversations with contacts who use Office Communicator and public e-mail services, such as AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), Yahoo! Messenger, and iChat that use AOL accounts. These accounts must have the required IM connectivity licenses. You can then authorize or deny federated access for an individual user or groups of users, and you can block federated partners from using IM with particular users. You can also choose to archive messages to federated partners and notify those partners of this decision.
Personal A personal account uses the Windows Live Messenger service. Contacts that a user adds to his or her personal account can include friends, family members, and co-workers.
Personal account users can also communicate with contacts who use Yahoo! Messenger.
