Help choose your ICT champion

EH logoThe e-Health-Insider web-portal is running its annual BT e-Health-Insider awards, and Microsoft has sponsored a new category to find the Healthcare ICT Champion of the Year. The award will be determined by readers’ votes. So don’t miss the chance to have your say on which of the six nominees should win…

The search is on for your Healthcare ICT Champion of 2007. This is a special category of the annual BT e-Health-Insider awards that has been sponsored by Microsoft to “recognise an individual who has made an outstanding contribution over the past year.”

The nominees

Nominations were collected earlier this year and six individuals allowed their names to go forward. In strict alphabetical order, they are:

Dr Mike Bainbridge, clinical architect, NHS Connecting for Health

Sean Brennan, consultant, writer and author of The NHS IT Project: the biggest computer programme in the world… ever!

Ian Fenton, head of IT and leader of the NHS Tayside ICT team

Dr Amir Hannan, GP and advocate of patient access to medical records

Ben Howson, ICT technical lead for data migration, Barts and the London NHS Trust

Professor Brian Randall, organiser of the www.nhs-it.info wiki and a member of the “NHS 23” group of academics.

Popular recognition

The short-listed six were all nominated by friends, colleagues and admirers. E-Health-Insider director Linda Davidson said: “We are delighted they let their names go forward.

“They are all outstanding people who obviously enjoy the respect and admiration of those who work closely with them. This is an opportunity to make their work known to a wider audience, and for readers to get involved with the awards in a real way.”

Vote now

Readers of the NHS Resource Centre and e-Health-Insider web portals can cast one vote each via e-Health-Insider at:  http://ehealthawards.com/champions.php

Voting has already got off to a brisk start with almost 400 e-Health-Insider readers casting their vote by 18 September. The closing date for voting is 22 October and the winner will be announced at the BT e-Health-Insider awards in London on 7 November.
