Process Modelling Community
About us
This web resource is the product of an alliance between the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement, TC Analyzer Ltd and Microsoft UK.
How the site came into being
During their work with NHS Trusts across the country, TC Analyzer Ltd and their partners saw the need for better support for NHS staff engaged in the analysis of healthcare processes. Staff wanted advice on how to go beyond process maps, how models of processes could be tested and put into action, and what tools and techniques are available. They also wanted to know who else in the NHS has been working on similar processes, to share their experiences and their models.
How better to do this than through an interactive website in which members can find guidance, ask questions, discuss projects and share designs? TC Analyzer Ltd recognised the benefit of teaming up with the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement, the leading source of advice to the NHS on improving healthcare, and Microsoft UK, the leading vendor of office software and services to the NHS.
The NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement
The Institute for Innovation and Improvement supports the NHS to transform healthcare for patients and the public by rapidly developing and spreading new ways of working, new technology and world-class leadership.
The Institute is active in process modelling and simulation in the NHS: it promotes process mapping as a means to discover existing ways of working and to identify opportunities for improvement. It is also developing a range of models of care (see for example the Quality and Value and Care Outside Hospitals programmes), it is developing a simulation tool called Scenario Generator and has tools and advice to support the application of Lean Management techniques to healthcare.
TC Analyzer Ltd (TCA)
TC Analyzer’s team have many years of successful experience in the development and deployment of systems for process modelling and process improvement. TC Analyzer has been created around its specialist impact of change analysis tool Analyzer Lite, specifically focusing on the healthcare sector.
Analyzer Lite is already providing significant benefit to Trusts as they analyse the impact of change to clinical and administrative processes. It is standardising the way these organisations model processes and quantifies the potential cost savings that can be achieved through implementing alternative scenarios.
Microsoft UK
Microsoft UK develops and maintains the NHS Resource Centre website which was originally launched in September 2006.
The NHS Resource Centre is an interactive web portal developed based on user feedback which aims to provide an online community environment to all NHS staff. Via the web portal, NHS users are encouraged to share experience and best practice across healthcare business and IT through articles, events, tips, user groups and discussion forums.
All NHS users can also take advantage of EA benefits such as the
Home User Programme,
the Employee Purchase Programme, and an
online learning platform with free courses on Office, SharePoint and InfoPath.
