Gordon Frazer appointed Managing Director of Microsoft in the UK

Reading, 7th July 2006 -Microsoft today announced the appointment of Gordon Frazer as its new Managing Director, Microsoft Ltd.  He will take up the position on 31st July 2006 re-locating from South Africa where he has successfully managed Microsoft’s business for four years.

Gordon Frazer is taking over from Alistair Baker who was appointed to lead the UK business in March 2004. Alistair is moving to a new role in Microsoft, details of which will be announced soon.

About Gordon Frazer

Gordon joined Microsoft South Africa in 1995.

In 1997 he became director of Microsoft South Africa’s Enterprise & Partner Group; sales gains of 70-80% a year were achieved in the SQL server product line.

He pioneered a Microsoft South Africa world first – Developer Days (a format for personal interaction with the developer community). The first was attended by 150 people; today attendance regularly tops 1200.

In 2001 Gordon Frazer took the Outstanding Contributor Award at Microsoft’s global sales convention. He won the Leadership Award the same year.

Gordon was appointed as General Manager Microsoft, South Africa in 2002.

Before joining Microsoft South Africa, Gordon was technical director of SX Software Engineering and prior to that was a business analyst at Anglo American and Nedfin.

Gordon is married and has a son and daughter. He was born in Cork, Ireland.
