Director of Corporate Affairs

Matt is responsible for leading Microsoft’s government affairs activity as well as its Citizenship programme. Microsoft’s citizenship activities focus on two priorities of using technology to provide fair access to economic and social opportunity and also ensuring that technology is safe, so that people have the confidence to use it at home and work.

Matt joined Microsoft in 1999 and has held various positions in the Legal and Corporate Affairs department since then. He led the Government Affairs team and in 2005 he was voted “In-House professional of the Year” by readers of Public Affairs News. He also has considerable experience in Citizenship issues, working with charities and the NGO community on a variety of initiatives, including Child Protection. Matt is a member of the Home Secretary’s Task Force on Child Protection on the Internet.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Matt was a government affairs consultant and was Managing Director of two of the leading companies in Brussels. Matt started his career as a Research Assistant in the House of Commons and he has a degree in Government from the University of Essex.

Matt is married with three children and in his spare time enjoys swimming, cycling and skiing.
