Sarah Fisher joined Microsoft in October 2008 as HR Director. Her responsibilities include driving forward the people strategy for the UK business which involves focusing on recruitment and retention, and improving employee engagement. Sarah works closely with the UK leadership team and oversees the development of innovative HR initiatives which look to increase employee satisfaction and grow the business.
Sarah joined Microsoft from Toyota (GB) PLC where she was the Director of HR & Environmental Strategy. Sarah was with Toyota for six and a half years and, in addition to the HR Director role, also held the responsibility for managing the Customer Relations Department and driving the external Customer Satisfaction strategy for Toyota for a four year period.
Prior to Toyota Sarah worked within the IT industry. She joined International Computers Limited (ICL) as a Graduate HR Trainee, and performed a variety of HR and Training management roles during the nine years she was with ICL. She then joined Siemens Business Services (SBS) as HR Director to become one of the founding directors of this new subsidiary within the Siemens Group. SBS was focused on IT and business process outsourcing and rapidly grew from the original set up team to an organisation of over 6,000 people in the UK in under five years.
Sarah lives near Petersfield in Hampshire with her partner. She holds a BA in English Literature from Southampton University, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
