What is PSA09?
The new Public Sector Agreement (PSA09) is a new software purchasing model for the UK public sector. It is the result of an in-depth collaborative procurement engagement between Microsoft and Buying Solutions (on behalf of the public sector).
PSA09 treats the public sector as a single entity in terms of pricing equality and licensing. It replaces the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU8) and offers better value for money, greater choice and flexibility in the licensing of enterprise products.
In addition to the existing Microsoft Desktop Packages, there is now a new set of public sector packages. These new packages ensure that you can choose software to match your functional/job requirements and offer a wider array of Microsoft products, including server with Server+ options.
Within the volume commitment element of PSA09, Microsoft is introducing new transferability benefits that permit broader movement of licences between public sector organisations.
Software asset management is also simplified, which means spending less time managing your software and more time using it. You can build a more flexible ICT environment within your organisation and have fewer worries about compliance, leaving more time for you to concentrate on service delivery with ICT.
