Mobile technology saves time and money
Wed, 28 Oct 2009
Mobile technology can help small businesses save time and improve employee efficiency, it has been claimed.
Robert Epstein, head of small and medium-sized business at Microsoft, told Fresh Business Thinking that "time is money".
He said that technology such as internet-enabled laptops and smartphones - which allow people to take calls, view mails and surf the internet enable business owners and employees to stay in constant contact with each other, their employer and customers.
Mobile working allows employees to use their time productively wherever they are, he suggested, in the office, home or on the move.
"The end result is that it allows you to focus on driving business profit rather than having you and your staff waste valuable time travelling to the office," he added.
Earlier this year, Brett Caine, general manager of mobile working firm Citrix Online, claimed that internet access and collaboration technologies are allowing businesses of all sizes to mobilise their workforce.
He suggested that firms can stay up to date with the latest market innovations without having to invest in expensive and complex on-premise infrastructure.
Mr Caine claimed that for firms wishing to expand without making a significant financial outlay, mobile working may be a great option.
