Expert offers business blogging tips

Regular posting of unique, quality content is key to the success of any business blog, it has been suggested.
According to Chris Lake, editor in chief at Econsultancy, every small and medium-sized enterprise should by now have some idea about the kind of search phrases they would use to attract web users to their web page through search engine optimisation.
He said blogs can be great for Google searches, providing they are well set up and offer relevant, purposeful information.
Mr Lake suggested: "Build a blog around your chosen outcome and write unique posts about (and around) that subject. You need to categorise and tag your posts with relevant terms.
"My key tips for blogging are: blog frequently, be original, have a real voice, embrace the community, keep your Google hat on, be opinionated, help users to share your posts and don't let public relations own the blog."
He also called on business bloggers to connect with other writers, tag and categorise everything, write cool headlines and have fun.
Research released this week by writemysite.co.uk shows that 70 per cent of small businesses are failing to update their blogs regularly despite the fact that many online enterprises have seen their business expand considerably during the recession.
