Entrepreneurism project launched in Redcar

A business centre in the north-east of England is launching a new scheme to encourage entrepreneurism in the local area.
The Newcastle Journal reports how the Wilton Centre in Redcar is offering a shared workspace package to those attempting to start a new business.
From July 1st 2009, dedicated office areas will be available to rent, complete with web access, desk areas, filing cabinets and telephone connections.
Budding businesspeople using the centre will also be able to benefit through collaboration with others in the same position, it is suggested.
Steve Duffield, accommodation manager at the Wilton Centre, told the newspaper that the scheme is designed to provide a professional workspace from the outset for those becoming self-employed.
He added: "The current climate is challenging enough for anybody starting a business without them having to worry about finding decent premises to work from."
Some 40 companies are already housed on the 75-acre site, but depending upon interest, this figure could increase significantly over the coming months.
Last month, the Journal reported how designer Wayne Hemingway had initiated the Starter for Ten project, which aimed to help creative businesses in the north-east establish themselves.
He unveiled plans to transform an empty building in Gateshead into a thriving centre for new start-ups.
