Small business grant up for grabs
Mon, 29 Jun 2009
Small companies are being offered the chance to win a £10,000 business grant, it has been reported.
BT Business is celebrating its Experience conference in London this week by offering the incentive to entrepreneurs who can display the vision and the capability necessary to thrive in the world of enterprise.
Judges, including BT Business managing director Bill Murphy, are to select a start-up firm which is both innovative and in need of financial backing to receive the grant.
Mr Murphy commented: "Small businesses are vital to the UK economy, particularly in the current climate so we at BT Business feel it is vital to support this community by providing opportunities like this."
Competition entries are being welcomed both at the conference and online.
The BT Business Experience event, which will run between June 29th and July 3rd, will provide small company owners with the opportunity to meet directly with leading business experts to get advice and unearth new opportunities.
Free seminars on a range of topics are to be staged throughout the week, with marketing and cost control among the subjects to be covered.
Earlier this month, Vanessa Canzini, a spokesperson for eBay, claimed the recession had encouraged many people to start new businesses.
