MSDN is firmly focused on the need to provide you, the developer, with practical, usable developer information and techniques on upcoming Microsoft products. Our MSDN Roadshow for 2007 will demonstrate the latest developments in our up-and-coming technologies from across the Microsoft technology stack. We’re covering topics across a broad range of areas for example: “Languages” including C# version 3 and VB9; “Data” including the entity framework, XLINQ and DLINQ; “Presentation” including ASP.NET AJAX (“Atlas”), WPF/E, and WPF tooling; and “Live”, covering Windows Live and how developers can take advantage of Live service offerings. Throughout the sessions we’ll also cover Office 2007, including the new tooling support for client and server development for the 2007 Microsoft Office system, along with a slew of other technologies and tools.

| Session/Time | Date | Description | Speaker/Bio |
9:30 – 9:45 | Welcome and Introduction | An introduction to the structure of the day. | Kevin McDaniel Kevin has been with Microsoft for 9 years and now spends his time making sure that individual developers, IT professionals, designers, academics and students are able to get relevant and effective information from the team of experienced evangelists in the UK. |
Session 1 | Language Enhancements and LINQ | Both the C# and Visual Basic languages get an update with the release of Visual Studio "Orcas". In this session we'll look at the changes in C# 3.0 and Visual Basic 9 and we'll look at how the new Language Integrated Query (LINQ) framework builds on some of those changes in order to present a new, extensible mechanism for querying data of different types directly from within the language using a SQL-like syntax. Download "Language Enhancements and LINQ" as a PPTX document | Daniel Moth Daniel has significant industry experience, holds a BSc in Computing for Business as well as an MSc with Distinction in Object Oriented Software technology, and he has been working with .NET since the first public beta in 2000. Daniel was awarded the Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award for his community contributions in 2004 and still enjoys helping others wherever he can, both online and offline. |

Session 2 | AJAX Development | Web sites are getting richer and user's expectations around the level of interaction that they can have with a web site are growing. In this session we'll take a look at the Microsoft AJAX Library as well as enhancements in Visual Studio "Orcas" for the JavaScript developer such as IntelliSense and debugging. We'll then move on to talk about the ASP.NET AJAX Extensions and finish up by looking at the sample controls in the ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit that make the building of your rich site easier than ever. | Mike Ormond Ever since he can remember, Mike's been interested in 'how stuff works', so an engineering career was a natural progression. After completing his degree at Strathclyde University, he toyed with transforms in imaging systems, played with hoppers in payment systems, scheduled headless clients in automated test solutions and helped real customers in product support! Nowadays he spends his time thinking about web and Office development and worrying about how to keep pace with change and whether or not he locked the back door. |

In this session we'll talk about the Entity Data Model then we’ll move on to see how ADO.NET surfaces data from the data model in either a relational or object-based manner. | Mike Taulty Mike works in the Developer and Platform Group at Microsoft in the UK where he has spent the past 2 years helping developers understand and get the best from the Microsoft platform. Prior to this, Mike spent 3 years with Microsoft Consulting Services as a consultant on developer technologies.
