Windows Embedded CE is a componentised operating system, built from the ground up for developing small footprint devices. Choosing from a custom set of available components and working from pre-existing templates, developers using Windows Embedded CE can quickly create a wide range of enterprise tools and consumer electronics with native real-time functionalities, such as:

Windows Embedded CE also brings the technology you need for debugging and deploying your device. The system includes Platform Builder for Windows Embedded CE 5.0, a fully-integrated development environment (IDE) that is customised for developing embedded operating systems and components.
