Bergman Photographic Services, Inc. (BPS) Purchases First UltraCamL in North America

Graz, Austria — Vexcel Imaging GmbH, a Microsoft® company, has signed a purchase agreement with Bergman Photographic Services, Inc. (BPS) of Portland, Oregon, for the first UltraCamL (UCL) in the US Pacific Northwest region. Delivery of the camera is scheduled for May, in time for the 2009 flying season.

“We’ve been looking at digital cameras for five years now. The UCL is the first offering to meet our image and mapping quality, performance and functionality requirements at a price point appropriate for the size of our business,” said Bruce Bergman, co-owner. “The fact that Vexcel will upgrade the UCL to the larger-footprint UltraCamLp when it becomes available, at no additional cost to us, combined with the UCL introductory offer, clinched our decision to make the purchase now.”

BPS will use the UCL to serve its existing customers, which are predominantly regional mapping firms. The UCL will enable these customers to compete on local projects that now require direct digital imagery. In addition, BPS will be able to serve larger national mapping firms when they have projects in the Pacific Northwest.

“We are pleased to see this response to our efforts to deliver a photogrammetric camera suitable for smaller projects and companies while maintaining the high quality associated with the UltraCam product line,” said Alexander Wiechert, Business Director of Microsoft and Managing Director for Vexcel Imaging GmbH. “We look forward to serving other regionally-focused companies with the UCL.”

About the UltraCamL

The UtraCamL digital medium format photogrammetric camera delivers many of the same technical capabilities of other models of the UltraCam family of digital aerial mapping cameras but in a smaller and lighter package design for use in smaller aircraft. It offers a 64 megapixel image format, a 1:2.2 pan sharpen ratio and collects RGB and NIR in parallel, all with forward motion compensation by TDI. These features allow it to deliver brilliant true-color and color-infrared (CIR) image quality with unmatched radiometric range, and make it ideal for smaller large-scale and photogrammetric projects, high-resolution (true) orthophoto production, multi-ray photogrammetry, corridor mapping, and lidar integration.
