SEPRET Purchases First UltraCamXp in Morocco
Graz, Austria — Vexcel Imaging GmbH, a Microsoft® company, has signed a purchase agreement with SEPRET (Société des Études des Projets et Réalisation des Travaux) of Rabat, Morocco for the purchase of an UltraCamXp (UCXp) large format digital aerial camera system. It is the first digital aerial mapping camera in Morocco.
“This is really a big step for our company,” said Mohammed El Masaoudi, General Manager of SEPRET. “SEPRET is an innovative company and this shows that we are always using the latest technology. The UCXp has the right combination of large area coverage and high radiometric and geometric quality for our needs.”
SEPRET will use the UCXp to serve its existing customers, including the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Office of Airports, the National Office of Motorways of Morocco, and the Ministry of Urbanism. In addition, SEPRET will be able to expand its offerings in aerial surveys and photogrammetry to serve new customers in the region.
“We are pleased that SEPRET selected the UCXp to support its projects in Morocco and elsewhere in Africa and the Middle East,” said Alexander Wiechert, Business Director of Microsoft and Managing Director for Vexcel Imaging GmbH. “The larger footprint of the UCXp minimizes the number of flightlines needed for a project area, giving our customers important savings in the current economy.”
About the UltraCamXp
The UltraCamXp builds on the highly successful UltraCamX. It delivers 17,310 across-track and 11,310 along-track panchromatic pixels, the largest image format available. The resolution ratio of 1:3 between color and pan bands allows for the production of high-resolution pan-sharpened products that are very suitable for photogrammetric and remote sensing applications. The low-cost, exchangeable on-board storage devices store up to 6,600 of the new larger images, further improving the efficiency of data collection. Higher image quality is made possible by improved dynamic range.
