So lets be clear this blog post brings up a great point!!!! Virtualization is just platform functionality. If you look at the history of this technology virtualization in itself is not a marketplace like VMware is attempting to create. They are basically creating a new platform with new device drivers, management tools, operating system, etc. Of course the goal is to sell you something a new platform.  The real business value is achieved when a existing platform adds virtualization as a technology that you can leverage as a part of the existing ecosystem. No one ever discusses the cost to add this new platform in a existing environment I wonder why.  As a student of history virtualization does not stand alone but as part of a existing platform. Do not fight me fight history.

The VMware post makes a good point - in the new, new MSFT "virtulization" sic model, where did the guest OS go? It seems to have just magically vanished...

This is hilarious! Microsoft are hitting out at Apple regarding "Apple tax" too.
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black... These guys should know all about taxing users. They coined the concept of "VMotion tax" (now mostly defunct because of HyperV) and "Windows tax" for God's sake.
