Licensing and Pricing Options for Virtual EarthSee it in Action
Start Working with Virtual Earth

A number of licensing and pricing options are available to accommodate your business requirements and the type of solution you are creating.

For an overview of how licensing and pricing works, consider your business situation and then review the table below. First, select the level of functionality your solution will need. Next, determine if a “per user” or “per transaction” usage fee applies to the solution you are envisioning. This will give you a starting point for the licensing and pricing model that may apply in your situation.

Platform Access License Standard All platform functionality other than Driving Directions (API: Route)
Advanced As with the Standard license, plus the inclusion of Driving Directions
Platform Usage Fee Per Transaction Pricing For all applications with an unknown number of users—such as an online store locator that is deployed on a customer-facing Web site. Pricing tiers are segmented by transaction volume.
Other Pricing Models

Pricing models can be tailored to a specific situation depending on customer need. For example, when the number of users is known—such as in a call center application—per user pricing can be used.

Support

Microsoft will provide support services to its customers upon signing a contract for the MapPoint Web Service or Virtual Earth. However, customers can choose additional Support Services.

Get Your Solution Started with the Interactive SDK

The hands-on, task-based Virtual Earth Interactive SDK provides developers with a demonstration of the Virtual Earth platform's features, complete code, application samples, and links to the reference SDK. Use of Virtual Earth API is subject to the Terms of Use.

In order to use the MapPoint Web Service you will need to sign up for a developer account to help evaluate which features your solution needs.
