Securities and Commodities Authority
The Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) is the government body responsible for regulating the financial markets in the Untied Arab Emirates (UAE). The SCA is primarily responsible for providing investors in the UAE with a safe and well-regulated environment in which to invest in securities and commodities. It implements supervisory legislation that controls the financial markets of the country and is currently managed by a board of five directors, chaired by the federal Minister of Economy and Planning. In 2008, it virtualised several physical servers using the Windows Server 2008 Enterprise operating system with Hyper-V virtualisation technology. With its adoption, the SCA has reduced operational expenses by an estimated 60 per cent and significantly improved employee efficiency.
