Comune di Roma
Comune di Roma is the largest municipality in Italy and the capital city. Within the offices of the Comune di Roma, more than 28,000 people, including city council members and the Mayor, ensure the efficient administration of one of the largest metropolitan areas in Europe. The 100-member IT department is responsible for providing the technology infrastructure and tools to support these employees.
The Comune di Roma has 200 servers running various editions of the Windows operating system. Many servers were crowded into Comune di Roma's former data center. Comune di Roma wanted to consolidate servers for its new data center and centralize a managed test environment to efficiently deploy new software. After deploying Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V, IT staff will be able to virtualize servers for the data center to save hardware costs, increase application availability, and drive business agility.
