Customers purchasing fewer than five licenses often do so through the retail channel, either from their preferred retail reseller or directly from Microsoft. Retail MSDN subscriptions must be renewed annually. The renewal grace period (which extends from the expiration of the MSDN subscription to the point when the customer loses the option to renew at the renewal price) is 30 days for Retail Licenses. Retail MSDN subscriptions must be activated within 180 days of purchase.
