I would love to give this app a 5 star rating but lack of support for nested urls, a feature they have promised since 2007 and yet to have delivered is a deal breaker for me. It's url rewriting is also not compatible with IIS 5.1 and the only fix is to buy a third party app. If you must use Silverstripe I would suggest you install using wampp or xampp instead of webpi, you will have less problems. In the meantime I am going to go with either umbraco, kenticocms, or wordpress.

CMS Usability is one of the best on the market. Especially for clients with no technical knowledge at all. Themers are happy to implement designs due to the easy to use structure, that also means faster implementation of client requirements, thus better bottomline for developers.

After considering a number of other solutions, both paid and open-source, Silverstripe provided us with the most flexible solution for our clients. The fantastic administration interface makes updating it a piece of cake for non-technical users. There are a few niggles I have with it, but the superb IRC and support network, make answers to these problems very quickly resolved.

Clean, well structured code, easy to extend and customize. The admin area is perfect for clueless clients - can't be easier/cleaner. The best CMS I ever tried in the last 5 years.

I've tried a few other CMS's before running into this one, but there wasn't any that met my requirements: complete freedom of templating and an easy to extend backend model. This is what's so great about Silverstripe: how easy it is to customise the CMS, add extra fields, create 'special' pages. Adding custom variables to the templates is also a piece of cake thanks to the MVC-pattern and some clever OO PHP. I doubt there is another Open Source one that can beat this one. Thanks guys and keep up the good work!
