I use DasBlog for my family blogs hosted on my own server and I love it! Biggest pros: does not require a database (which means it is easier to setup and manage...don't have to worry about separate database backups, just back up your web directory!) and it is pretty easy to use. Biggest cons: it doesn't update with new features as frequently as the BIG BOYS like WordPress, and doesn't have the breadth of features or plug-ins like those guys. Summary: simple, easy to use blog that stores everything in the file system.
