Is Microsoft Partner status required to publish offers in the Web Hosting Gallery?

We do not require Microsoft Partner Status to advertise offers in the Web Hosting Gallery. However, an offer must meet minimum technology requirements. Microsoft Partner status may provide additional benefits and opportunities for exposure to the Microsoft ecosystem beyond the Web Hosting Gallery. Where do I report abuse of the site?

We take steps to confirm that offers on the Web Hosting Gallery accurately reflect the offers from Web Hosting Providers. However, if you find an offer that is inconsistent or contains false information, email WebHostingFeedback@microsoft.com with details concerning the inconsistency. We will then work with the Provider to update or remove the offer.

When should I select the “Selling to reseller” checkbox?

If your company allows third parties to resell your hosting services, check the box. If you only sell to customers that use hosting services for their sites and applications, leave the box unchecked.

Technology Requirements
What are the minimum requirements for offers in the Web Hosting Gallery?

All offers in the Web Hosting Gallery must support the following minimum technology requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 or 2008
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, 2008, or 2005
  • ASP.NET 4.0

In addition to the technology requirements mentioned above, you must provide general information regarding your offer, including support availability and uptime. Microsoft will update these requirements as new technologies become available.

What are qualifications for “Spotlight” status offers?

"Spotlight" status indicates offers that utilize the latest Microsoft technology, deliver 99.9% uptime, and provide 24/7 support.

All offers must pre-install and pre-configure SQL Server 2008, ASP.NET 4.0, MVC 2.0, URL Rewrite, IIS Remote Management, and Web Deploy. Virtual or dedicated hosting offers must also include WebPI. All “Spotlight” offers must also successfully complete a Web Matrix publishing test.

Microsoft will update these requirements as new technologies become available. As a result, certain “Spotlight” offers may lose their eligibility. This ensures a better customer experience using the latest Microsoft technologies for current hosting offers.

How does Microsoft verify my offer details meet the “Spotlight” requirements?

A member of our engineering team will run a Web Matrix publishing test. If you are not already working with a Microsoft representative, please contact WebHostingFeedback@microsoft.com to initiate the validation process.

Why is Web Deploy a requirement for “Spotlight” status on Shared offers?

Web Deploy is a highly robust and flexible protocol for publishing Web applications. It supports publishing databases, files, ACLs, and IIS configuration seamlessly and securely. To learn more about Web Deploy, visit http://iis.net/webdeploy. WebMatrix uses Web Deploy as its preferred deployment mechanism.

Why is publishing protocol pre-configuration required for Virtual and Dedicated offers?

Publishing protocols are relevant to developers when deploying applications to a server. Pre-configuring publishing protocols simplifies deployment for Web developers, which is desirable.

Submitting your Web Hosting Offers
How many offers can I submit?

There is no limit to the number of accurate, legitimate offers you can submit to the Web Hosting Gallery.

For how long will my offers remain active?

When creating an offer, you can set an expiration date, but this is not required. Offers without an expiration date will remain active until they no longer meet the minimum technical requirements. Please note that we reserve the right to deactivate offers that have been inactive for a prolonged period of time.

What currency should I use for worldwide offers?

We recommend listing your offer with the currency of your target market for improved relevancy.

When should I classify an offer under the “Promotions” category?

If an offer has limited-time pricing or features, it should be listed under the “promotions” category.

Why doesn’t my full company name appear?

Because there is limited space to display company names, characters beyond a certain length will not appear.

Why doesn’t my logo appear correctly?

The space allotted to display company logos is 182 x 75 pixels. To ensure logo visibility, resize your logo appropriately.

What should I use as a Sign-Up URL?

Each Web hosting offer must have a URL which links directly to the Order Page for that particular offer. This ensures a seamless transition from the Web Hosting Gallery to your offer order page. Your offer will not be published to the Web Hosting Gallery if you do not provide the correct Sign-Up URL.

Why can’t I see the offers I recently submitted?

Once submitted, we must review and approve your offer. This process typically takes two business days for non-Spotlight offers. The validation process for Spotlight offers typically takes one week.

Managing your Web Hosting Offers
How do I edit my offers once they have been published?

You can edit current offers in the Web Hosting Gallery by first signing in at the top of the page, locating one of your offers, and clicking on your company name. This will take you to a page with all of your offers, and toward the bottom of this page you will find an “Edit this Hosting Provider’s details” link. From this page, you can edit offers, add offers, and/or delete offers. We must re-approve edited offers before they appear in the Web Hosting Gallery.

What are qualifications for the blue “Featured Offer” section?

To appear in the “Featured Offers” section, an offer must ranked in the top three results for each type of hosting (i.e. shared, virtual, or dedicated). Offers are ranked by “Spotlight” status, lowest monthly price, and highest product ratings. Featured offers must also have “Spotlight” status. We reserve the right to promote other offers.

How can I improve my search ranking?

Offers with a “Spotlight” badge, affordable pricing, and good user ratings have improved search rankings.

Can I add new offers?

Yes, simply use the same process used to edit offers.

Why is my offer no longer listed in the Web Hosting Gallery?

Your offer may not be published due to one of the following reasons:

  • The expiration date may have passed, and your offer was automatically deactivated.
  • Your offer may have been deactivated if we believe that there was misuse of the Web Hosting Gallery, including inconsistent or inaccurate company or offer details, prolonged inactivity, or detracting from the user experience. If you feel that an offer was mistakenly deactivated, please contact us via WebHostingFeedback@microsoft.com

Microsoft will update “Spotlight” requirements as new technologies become available. As a result, certain “Spotlight” offers may lose their eligibility. This ensures a better customer experience using the latest Microsoft technologies for current hosting offers. Microsoft will provide advance notice prior to updating Spotlight criteria.

Why was my company deactivated?

Your company account on the Web Hosting Gallery may have been deactivated due to one of the following reasons:

  • You may have created more than one account in the Web Hosting Gallery for the same company profile, in which case, the duplicate entry would be deactivated.
  • Your company account may have been deactivated in the case where we believe that there was misuse of the Web Hosting Gallery. If you feel that a company account was mistakenly deactivated, please contact us via WebHostingFeedback@microsoft.com.
