How to Get the WDK

Note: Information on how to download the Windows Logo Kit has moved.


This topic applies to the following versions of Windows:
The Windows Server 2008 family of operating systems (x86, x64, and Itanium)
The Windows Vista family of operating systems (x86, x64, and Itanium)
The Windows XP family of operating systems (including service packs and 64-bit editions)
The Windows 2000 family of operating systems (including service packs)

Use this Windows Driver Kit (WDK): Windows Server 2008 WDK, which includes the kernel-mode driver framework (KMDF) and user-mode driver framework (UMDF)
Note: See Windows Driver Foundation (WDF) for information about an important fix for KMDF and UMDF 1.7.

Download the current WDK: Go to the Microsoft Connect Web site (log-in required) and complete one of the following procedures. You can also download the current WDK through MSDN Subscriber Downloads.

Download the WDK for Windows 7 RC: The Windows 7 RC WDK (v.7.0.0) is available through the Windows Ecosystem Readiness Program and through MSDN Subscriber Downloads. It is also available to developers who are participants in the WDK beta program. If you want to participate in the WDK beta program, send an e-mail to wdkbeta@microsoft.com. You will receive an e-mail in return that contains instructions about how to sign up for the appropriate program on Microsoft Connect.

To join the Windows Driver Kit (WDK and Windows Driver Framework (WDF) connection on Microsoft Connect and download the current WDK
