The Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system supports PCI interrupt routing on non-ACPI machines when the following conditions are true:
| • | The BIOS provides IRQ routing information using either $PIR (as defined in the Microsoft PCI IRQ Routing specification) or the PCI BIOS real-mode interface. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| • | Windows 2000 supports the chipset. Supported chipsets are listed in the following table.

Testing. The following test procedure is recommended, in addition to using CardBus devices for your daily work:
1. | Insert a CardBus card. |
2. | Ensure the device is detected and installed correctly. |
3. | Verify that the card functions correctly. |
4. | Go to the Power Management control panel and enable hibernate support if it is not already enabled. |
5. | Hibernate the machine from the Start/Shutdown menu. |
6. | Wake the machine. |
7. | Verify that the card still works correctly. |
8. | Remove the card using the Unplug/Eject Devices application on the tray. |
9. | Remove the card and re-insert it. |
10. | Verify that the card still works. |
11. | Insert a second card (with the first card still present), and repeat steps 2-10. |
