Windows Connect Now-NET Specification

Updated: December 12, 2006

The Windows Connect Now - NET specification defines technologies to support configuration of devices on out-of-band Ethernet and in-band wireless networks.

Windows Connect Now NET in Windows Vista communicates with access points and wireless stations by using UPnP, authenticates with the devices using a personal identification number (PIN), and provides wireless settings based on user selection. Direct wireless in-band communication of stations is done via proxy from a Windows Connect Now-enabled wireless access point or wireless router.
