The Asynchronous User Interface (AsyncUI) mechanism in Microsoft Windows Vista enables a printer driver to provide asynchronous event notification messages to a client computer independently of the print spooler. For example, the driver can send a notification that triggers a balloon message that appears near the user's taskbar, or a message box dialog, or a custom user interface. This paper provides information about AsyncUI for printer hardware vendors and printer driver developers.
This information applies for the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system.
