How to Get the WDK

The Windows Driver Kit (WDK) 7.0.0 is available for download. The WDK 7.0.0 contains headers, libraries, build tools, build environments, code samples, documentation, and other tools that software developers use to create drivers and kernel software.

This topic applies to the following versions of Windows:
Windows 7
Windows Vista
Windows XP
Windows Server 2008 R2
Windows Server 2008
Windows Server 2003

Download the WDK 7.0.0 in one of the following ways:

  1. For the easiest way to download the WDK, go to the Microsoft Download Center. Follow the instructions on the Download page to download the WDK.

  2. For a more comprehensive interface to the WDK and to the driver developer community, go to the Microsoft Connect Web site.

    If you are a member of Connect, you can download the WDK by using the "Windows Driver Kit (WDK)" connection.

    If you are not a member of Connect, you can register at no charge. As a Connect member, you can use the Connect site to download the WDK, to provide feedback on the WDK, and to receive announcements and surveys.
