Virtualization and Partitioning
Windows Virtualization: Windows takes advantage of virtualization assistance in hardware that is based on Intel Virtualization Technology and AMD "Pacifica." By doing this, Windows virtualization enables workloads such as server consolidation, efficient software development and testing, resource management for dynamic data centers, application rehosting and compatibility, and high-availability partitions.
Dynamic Hardware Partitioning: On a dynamically partitionable server that is running Windows Server 2008, partition units can be added or replaced without restarting the operating system. Windows Server 2008 supports hot add of processors, memory, and I/O host bridges, and Windows Server 2008 supports hot replace of processors and memory on x64-based and Itanium-based systems.
