Manufacturers of datacenter hardware need a standardized management channel for communicating with other systems, including those that run Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2. An emerging solution is to add Web services to an embedded controller. This paper explains the technical challenges, describes how the WS-management protocol works with Web services-based embedded controllers, gives an overview of the WS-management Embedded Toolkit, and summarizes the toolkit licensing.
This information applies for the following operating systems:
Microsoft Windows Vista
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2
