Windows Vista LogoFest Event Announcement
The Windows Logo team is pleased to announce this Windows Vista LogoFest event to be held in Munich-Unterhaching, Germany, February 26-28, 2008 at the Holiday Inn. This event is for licensed hardware partners who have signed the Logo License Agreement (LLA) 10.0 or 10.1 with Microsoft and want to earn the Windows Vista Logo by using the Windows Logo Kit (WLK) 1.1. Additionally, participants will receive the latest logo information and learn how to earn the Windows Server 2008 Logo. Event information: Dates: February 26 - 28, 2008

Discounted hotel rooms are available for the convenience of event participants on a limited basis. The hotel details and booking forms will be included in the confirmation e-mail. We expect spaces for these events to fill quickly and encourage you to submit your registration request as soon as possible. Attendee cancellations must be received no later than Friday, February 8, 2008. Note: Cancellations received late will be charged the full registration fee for the event.
What will be provided:
• A large shared space with network connectivity supplied to each participating company. Participants should bring all computer hardware necessary for testing (a controller and the system under test). More details will be supplied in the registration confirmation. Although we recommend that participants come with the software preinstalled, media with the WLK 1.1 will be available on site.
• Lunch and beverages for all attendees throughout the event. Note: All other expenses (including travel, lodging, and any other incidentals) are the responsibility of the attendees and are not reimbursed or provided by Microsoft. Participants receive:
• Assistance and training to enable you to test your product for the logo.
• Access to knowledgeable staff resources from Microsoft development and Windows Logo teams.
• Presentations materials.
• Microsoft staff available to assist with setting up the test environment and to provide
information on the errata and contingency processes. Prerequisites:

Updated Clarification on Which WLK Versions to Use for Submissions
• WLK 1.0.c must be used for Windows Vista RTM (incompatible with WLK 1.1).
• WLK 1.0.c may be used for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.
• WLK 1.1 must be used for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista SP1.
• WLK 1.1 may be used for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.
• All Windows Vista submissions must use Windows Vista SP1 90 days after Windows Vista SP1 RTM.
• WLK 1.2 will be released April 1, 2008, and may be used for submissions with all accepted operating systems immediately on release (Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista SP1, and Windows Server 2008).
• On June 1, 2008, WLK 1.2 is required and all previous kits are retired.
Windows Logo Program Requirement Updates
The Windows Logo Program would like to inform partners of the following requirement updates:
SYSFUND-0044 - Premium system includes necessary devices and functionality - Version 4 update: Changed optical disk drive to if-implemented and added a new note stating that premium system can use a basic logo'd optical disk drive. POLICY-0017 - Acceptable system updates for client systems - Version 3 update: Added that swapping of motherboards and altering PinConfigs are not allowed. IMAGING-0033 - Print Port Monitors implement InitializePrintMonitor2 - Version 2 update December 11, 2007: Corrected spelling error in title, changed InitializaPrintMonitor2 to InitializePrintMonitor2, and changed from Required to If-Implemented. IMAGING-0004 - Network-connected device implements Windows network connected Web Services for Devices (WSD) properly for their device type - Clarified what must be supported in the Print Service Definition. POLICY-0021 - Unclassified Program - Version 3 update: Clarified that all device fundamental requirements must be met.
The following are new requirements and policies being proposed. Please provide any feedback on these new requirements by February 7, 2008.
POLICY-0023 - System Submission Using a Logo'd Motherboard INPUT-0037 - Keyboards revert to the current users system language when the system is in locked state INPUT-0038 - After a reboot, keyboards display a keyset and layout matching the OS installed language INPUT-0039 - Keyboards reflect user selected language and layout at login screens INPUT-0040 - Keyboards display customer's preferred keyboard layout when Windows desktop has focus INPUT-0041 - The Windows key remains visible to the user INPUT-0042 - When in Safe Mode, keyboards display layouts reflecting the default installation language of the Operating System. INPUT-0043 - Self-powered keyboards allow for overriding layout to default layout independently of the operating system INPUT-0044 - Non-Mechanical input devices support Selective Suspend CONNECT-0081 - A Certified Wireless USB device or host pass all required WiMedia Alliance compliance tests CONNECT-0082 - Third-party drivers for USB devices install through a unique PnP identifier match or a compatible ID match when allowed CONNECT-0083 - Host Wireless Adapter (HWA) or Wireless Host Controller Interface (WHCI) supports a minimum of 8 devices connected simultaneously for Basic logo level CONNECT-0084 - Host Wireless Adapter (HWA) or Wireless Host Controller Interface (WHCI) supports a minimum of 16 devices connected simultaneously for Premium logo level CONNECT-0085 - Host Wireless Adapters (HWA) and Device Wireless Adapters (DWA) have a minimum of 32 R-pipes for Basic logo level CONNECT-0086 - Host Wireless Adapters (HWA) and Device Wireless Adapters (DWA) have a minimum of 64 R-pipes for Premium logo level CONNECT-0087 - Host Wireless Adapter (HWA) have a minimum buffer size of 64k bytes available for R pipe use for Basic logo level CONNECT-0088 - Host Wireless Adapter (HWA) have a minimum buffer size of 192k bytes available for R pipe use for Premium logo level CONNECT-0089 - Device Wireless Adapter (DWA) with exposed external ports has a minimum buffer size of 64k bytes available for R Pipe use for Basic logo level CONNECT-0091- Near Field Communication (NFC) radio must be compliant with the Near Field Communication specification CONNECT-0113 - Device Wireless Adapter (DWA) with exposed external ports has a minimum buffer size of 192k bytes available for R Pipe use for Premium logo level CONNECT-0105 - Wireless USB device or host must obtain a Certified Wireless USB logo from the USB-IF CONNECT-0106 - Native Wireless USB Devices must pass all relevant wired USB device class tests CONNECT-0107 - Devices based on the Certified Wireless USB specification must be self beaconing CONNECT-0108 - Devices based on the Certified Wireless USB specification must support the ability to connect to different hosts BUSPORT-0027 - 1394b host controllers must provide at least one customer accessible nine pin "bilingual" port SYSFUND-0193 - Systems that include Wireless USB radios use WHCI (PCI based) radios
