WLK 1.2 Release Announcement
We are pleased to announce the release of Windows Logo Kit (WLK) 1.2. You can download WLK 1.2 from Microsoft Connect ( www.connect.microsoft.com) now.
WLK 1.2:
• Synchronizes logo tests with the new logo requirements that take effect June 1, 2008, as part of the new Windows Logo Program (WLP) 2008.
• Includes the new Display Hybrid Graphics logo program and the new Server Virtualization Validation Program (SVVP).
• Further improves the quality of Driver Test Manager (DTM) and the quality of the logo tests.
Windows Quality Online Services (Winqual) will accept submissions from WLK 1.2 beginning immediately - including the new Display Hybrid Graphics logo program. You must use WLK 1.2 for all submissions beginning June 9, 2008. In addition, Winqual will not accept any submission for the new SVVP program until June 13, 2008. New Validation Programs
• Display Hybrid Graphics
• Server Virtualization Validation Program New Tests to Validate New Windows Logo Program 2008 Requirements
• Audio: Fidelity Test will now run on capture endpoints in addition to render endpoints.
• Video Capture: Blink Audio and Video Capture and Control Test now includes new tests to validate that USB video capture devices comply with the USB video class specifications STREAM-0008 and STREAM-0053. Note: The preceding new tests were not included as previews in WLK 1.1. Therefore, we will still accept any submission before August 1, 2008 that fails these tests.
In addition to these new tests, WLK 1.2 also contains the preview tests that were released in WLK 1.1. See the WLK 1.1 release announcement for details. The preview tests included in WLK 1.1 are now required in WLK 1.2. New Features
• The Unclassified program has a No-INF option. This No-INF option enables hardware partners to use WLK 1.2 for quality assurance purposes when validating Unclassified devices that use in-box drivers. For details and instructions on how to use this No-INF option, see the WLK 1.2 release notes. Support Information
• This release is fully supported by Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) and Windows Quality Online Services (Winqual) for logo submissions on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Vista SP1, and Windows Server 2008. Note that Windows Vista submissions require Windows Vista SP1 beginning June 9, 2008.
• Winqual will accept logo submissions from WLK 1.2 beginning immediately. Winqual will require WLK 1.2 for all logo submissions beginning June 9, 2008.
• Winqual will accept SVVP submissions beginning June 13, 2008.
No INF File Check Box Renamed
In WLK 1.2, the name of the No INF File check box is now I am not providing an INF or Driver Package. This change clarifies the purpose of the check box.
Partners can use this check box when testing for any device or logo program category. Select this check box only when you want to test your device with the operating system's inbox drivers and inbox INF files while meeting the logo program qualification requirements. When you select this check box, the submission that is created will use the operating system's inbox driver files for testing the device. At the time of submission upload, you can upload only the test results of the WLK test. You cannot upload any driver files or driver package for signature. Also, you will not receive a signed driver package after approval of such submissions.
For an Unclassified category submission, if you select the I am not providing an INF or Driver Package check box, you do not qualify for a logo or signed driver package. You receive only a Logo Verification Report that confirms that the specific device has successfully passed WLP testing.
DEVFUND-0014 Is Mandatory for All Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 Device Submissions
Currently all device submissions must meet the Device Fundamental DEVFUND-0014 requirement. This requirement mandates that all submissions for Windows Vista and later operating systems must support the x64 platform of that operating system. This requirement has been in effect since June 1, 2006. Until November 2007, partners had a 60-day grace period to make complying x64 submission after making an x86 submission. Now all submissions must be compliant at the time of submission itself.
The DEVFUND-0014 requirement is being enforced at the Hardware ID level. Any submission that is made and that does not meet this requirement will be disqualified with no further notice. The disqualified product will not be allowed to ship with the Logo and will not be listed in the Windows Catalog and the Hardware Compatibility List.
For further details, see the requirement on LogoPoint and the FAQ for Windows Logo Program V. 3.0. You can access LogoPoint through your Winqual account ( http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/winlogo/VistaLogofaq.mspx).

Latest Changes to Test Topics in the DTM Help Documentation
Latest Changes to Test Topics in the DTM Help Documentation
The Windows Server 2008 System Testing collection of topics has been rewritten, and two new topics have been added. The new topics are Running LoadGen in Non-logo Testing Mode and Troubleshooting the Server Stress Test.
The test instructions for the Server Cluster Test have been rewritten to conform with changes that were made to the instructions for the Windows Server 2008 System Test. These changes will help partners better understand the complex setup and testing processes of these tests.
Availability of the DTM Help Documentation
The latest documentation update for DTM is now available from the Microsoft Connect Web site. This documentation can be found under Windows Driver Kit (WDK), Windows Logo Kit (WLK), and Windows Driver Framework (WDF). We will post monthly updates on the Microsoft Connect Web site on the first Monday of every month.
March 2008 Documentation Update
The scheduled DTM documentation update for March was canceled because of a lack of any significant changes to the topics in the documentation.
Hybrid Graphics Driver Submissions
A WLP submission of hybrid graphics drivers is fully supported with WLK 1.2. To submit hybrid graphics drivers without using WLK 1.2, select the Unclassified category. Manual processing is required for Unclassified hybrid graphics submissions with versions of the WLK earlier than 1.2. Before you make such a submission, notify Logo Feedback ( logofb@microsoft.com).
