Windows XP Logo Program Ends June 30, 2008
Beginning July 1, 2008, you will no longer be able to use the Designed for Windows XP logo for the Microsoft Windows XP systems and all device categories. This applies only to new devices and systems. If you made a product submission prior to July 1, 2008, you can keep the Designed for Windows XP artwork for your products and packaging.
After June 30, 2008, you can, however, continue to make Windows XP submissions for driver signing. You must submit test logs to obtain a signed driver. You do not need to include device submissions with a submission for a newer operating system. Normal submission fees still apply.
Only those Windows XP submissions that qualify by June 30, 2008 can use the Designed for Windows XP logo in the systems and all device categories.
Until further notice, systems that qualify as ultra-low cost personal computers (ULCPCs) can continue to submit and achieve Designed for Windows XP status after June 30, 2008. The definition for the form factor and test plan will appear in next week's newsletter.
More Direct Link to WLK Test Support Through Premier Support
We are pleased to announce a simpler, more direct link to start a support incident when you have a problem passing a Windows Logo Kit (WLK) test. If you start the incident through this link, http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?&prid=11880, your problem will be directly entered into the queue for the WLK Premier Support team. The cost of an incident is $259, which will be waived if the issue is a problem with the test itself, not with your hardware or driver.
