Hardware Testing Requirements Updated For Display Adapter/ Chipset - Clarification
An update to the hardware requirement for Display Adapter/Chipset testing will require that a Linked Display Adapter (LDA) configuration is used in the test bed for relevant display adapters. The requirement only applies to display adapter/chipset submissions made for Windows Vista and will be only enforced via an audit scenario for now. The LDA requirement will go into effect 60 days after Windows Vista SP1 is released, at that time you will need to switch to using Windows Vista SP1 in your logo test bed and include at least one LDA configuration per ASIC family that supports this functionality. ASIC families that do not include this functionality are not impacted by this requirement. We will likely increase our requirements for LDA at a future date, including specific testing and system checks within DTM. We recommended that the LDA configuration be used to satisfy one of the Dual-Proc Intel Diversity machine requirements. Here are the hardware requirements with the update, any questions or comments please email

Hardware Requirements
The following hardware is required in the machine pool for display adapter and chipset testing. This specific hardware fulfills the diversity requirements that demonstrate the stability of display drivers and chipsets:
At least two systems are required for every Discrete ASIC family in the INF file that is obtaining the logo. These systems must contain:
• At least one AMD microprocessor system.
• At least one Intel system with a dual microprocessor (such as the Intel Hyper-Threading microprocessor).
• For every ASIC family that is supported in the INF file, a minimum of two adapters are required. One of the adapters must support dual view and have a monitor attached and enabled.
• Linked Display Adapters (LDA) configuration is used in the test bed for relevant display adapters.
• A multi-sync display data channel standard, level 2B (DDC2B)-capable monitor with EDID 1.3 support on the test systems.
Note: Mobile and Integrated display adapters and chipsets are exempt from the first two requirements.
