New Beta Web Site: Windows Vista Compatibility Center
On July 8, 2008, Microsoft introduced the Windows Vista Compatibility Center beta Web site ( www.windows.com/compatibility) at the Worldwide Partner Conference in Houston, Texas. The Windows Vista Compatibility Center Web site helps consumers, small businesses, and sales-channel partners easily identify the software and devices that are compatible with Windows Vista.
Please review this new Web site beta, and send us your feedback. We want continuous feedback from our partners and customers to ensure that all your product listings are accurate and up to date.
If your products are widely available in the U.S. market, they might already be listed on the Windows Vista Compatibility Center site. Please review your product listings, and use the site feedback forms to give us revisions or to suggest new product listings. To identify your company and in case we need to contact you, please leave your e-mail address in the Service code field.
Use this exciting opportunity to showcase all your products that are compatible with Windows Vista. Please do not miss this opportunity to get involved.
For more information, you can join the Worldwide Partner Conference virtually at https://partner.microsoft.com/global/40058548. There you can read the keynote speeches and view the demos. Partners can also contact us directly about the Windows Vista Compatibility Center at wvccfeed@microsoft.com.
Previously Logo’d Motherboard Program
The Windows Logo Team knows that many partners sell desktop PCs that use a motherboard that previously achieved logo status. To reduce the cost of testing such a system, system builders and OEMs may use the Previously Logo'd Motherboard category in the Windows Logo Kit (WLK) to test such desktop systems. The Previously Logo'd Motherboard category, launched with the release of WLK 1.2, offers a reduced set of tests. To qualify for this program, a partner must show that the motherboard used in the Previously Logo'd Motherboard submission is currently listed in the Hardware Compatibility List.
The key benefit of this program is that a partner will not need to run or import a log for the Audio Fidelity test if that partner's system qualifies for the program. Partners who choose to use this category for a basic or premium logo must meet all of the desktop basic or premium requirements, respectively.
To test a qualifying system, use the Previously Logo'd Motherboard category in the current WLK. When you make your submission, include a readme.doc file that references the name of the motherboard as it appears in the Hardware Compatibility List.
For complete information about this program, see POLICY-0023 on the LogoPoint Web site.
REMINDER: Some motherboards achieved logo status before June 1, 2008. All submissions in the Previously Logo'd Motherboard category must fully meet current Windows Logo Program requirements. For example, before June 1, 2008, DirectX version 10 was not required for system submissions to qualify for a Windows Vista Premium Logo, but as of June 1, 2008, all system submissions except ultra-mobile PC (UMPC) submissions must meet the DirectX version 10 requirement to qualify for a Windows Vista Premium Logo.
