Be Prepared for 64-bit Windows Vista
An important and exciting platform shift is occurring in the PC industry: The move from 32-bit to 64-bit PCs. These PCs run 64-bit editions of Windows Vista, typically with 4 or more GB of memory. We have seen dramatic consumer adoption of 64-bit PCs in recent months, tripling in the U.S. in the last three months and doubling worldwide during this same period. This growth is expected to accelerate as the retail channel shifts to supplying a rapidly increasing assortment of 64-bit desktops and laptops. What does this mean to you? Take a look at the Windows Vista 64-bit Today posting on the Windows Vista blog for more details about this market shift to 64-bit PCs, what it means to you and your customers, and resources to help you support your customers as they move to 64-bit PCs. You can also find information on 64-bit compatibility and optimization at Windows Vista 64-bit Partner Readiness.
Announcement Date Field Must Be Filled In for Submission to Appear on HCL
For a logo product to be listed on the Windows Hardware Compatibility List (HCL), the announcement date field on the Winqual site must be properly filled in. By default, the date is automatically set for two weeks after the date of the submission. You may change the date to any date as long as it is not the same date or earlier than when you make the submission. If you leave the announcement date field blank, the submission will not be listed on the Windows HCL. If you want your product to be listed on the Windows HCL, be sure to enter a date that is greater than the date on which you make the submission.
