Windows Logo Kit QFE 304: Critical Updates for DTM Harness

Quick Fix Engineering (QFE) 304 for the Windows Logo Kit (WLK) is now available on the WHDC Web site. This QFE fixes a major cause for corrupted log on Winqual submissions as well as addressing several issues in the DTM harness:

Log file copy. Log files generated on the client were not being successfully copied to the controller. The situation could have resulted in missing log files during submission rollup or in a failed Winqual submission.
UpdateFilters.exe. Windows Logo Kit 1.0.c shipped without a version of the UpdateFilters.exe binary. This QFE adds the appropriate version of the UpdateFilters.exe to the controller.
Submission rollup log. Summary log file generated in the submission rollup included results applied from the filter process. The situation may have caused submission results to be out of sync with the Winqual filter process and/or the WLK log review tool.
Network Gatherer. During test setup, some LAN devices were mistakenly identified by the gatherer as WLAN devices on Windows XP systems. This action prevented users from running the WLAN logo program on Windows XP since the apparent system configuration did not match the minimum requirements (the required LAN device only shows as a WLAN device).
SQLDataReader exception. Concurrent SQLDataReader queries caused an exception when calling DeviceScript.ConnectToDataStore() or DeviceScript.ConnectToNamedDataStore().

Note: Microsoft highly recommends that this QFE be installed on all DTM 1.0.c controllers immediately.

Registration Still Available: Windows Server 2008 LogoFest Events

Here are the answers to some of the questions regarding the upcoming Logofest events that the Windows Logo team has received from Partners. Please continue to send any questions you may have to LOGOFEST@microsoft.com.

Are submission fees reduced for platforms that we have finished the testing on, but are not able to submit?

Driver Quality Rating monitoring required for basic logo'd devices beginning June 1, 2008

Beginning June 1, 2008 logo requirements DEVFUND-0027 and SYSFUND-0040 relating to monitoring of Driver Quality Rating (DQR) will be required for basic logo'd devices and PC systems. DQR is a method of measuring the driver quality after the device and system have entered the field. Drivers are rated on a 1 - 5 star scale, with 5 being the best. The DQR score is based on the driver crash to install ratio. In addition to drivers needing to be in compliance, the DQR score can be used to prioritize driver maintenance work and help OEM's update preloads for the optimal user experience. Please refer to the LogoPoint website for the latest information on DEVFUND-0027 and SYSFUND-0040. For complete details on DQR, please refer to the following article from the Winqual Help section titled "About My Driver Quality Rating."
