Windows Logo Kit
The Windows Logo Kit (WLK) contains everything needed to certify devices for Windows: Driver Test Manager (DTM), the required tests, and the documentation needed to set up DTM and execute the tests.
To qualify for the Windows Logo Program, your product must pass testing with the WLK:
For a device logo: Pass tests that verify device reliability and performance.
For a driver quality signature: Meet all criteria for drivers, as defined in logo program requirements.
For a system logo: All devices and drivers in the system must have device logos or driver quality signatures, and the system must pass an additional series of tests.
Windows Logo Kit 1.4 Is Now Available
Windows Logo Kit (WLK) 1.4 is now available for download on Microsoft Connect (log-in required). The primary purpose of this release is to provide required content for Windows 7 logo requirements so partners can begin work on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
Which Kit to Use?
WLK 1.4 is required for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 submissions. WLK 1.4 also supports the logo programs for earlier operating systems. Microsoft strongly advises partners to use WLK 1.4 for submissions for all operating systems, because of improved quality, documentation, and reliability.
WLK 1.2 and WLK 1.3 will expire July 9, 2009.
Except for the cases listed below, WLK 1.3 and WLK 1.2 can both be used for all Windows Vista and earlier operating system logo programs. Exceptions (only if you are planning to use WLK 1.3 instead of WLK 1.2):
WLAN must use WLK 1.3 for Windows Vista submissions.
WLK 1.2 WLAN submissions are no longer be accepted.
Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 (including Windows Home Server) system and server submissions must only use WLK 1.2.
Windows Server submissions made with WLK 1.3 will not be accepted.
ISDN submissions can still be made using WLK 1.2 even though this logo test category has been retired.
WLK Support from Microsoft
Microsoft provides technical support for logo program tests and tools. You must resolve any test failures before making a test submission.
