RFID Scanners

Improving inventory management and customer service

Recommended Embedded Technology: Windows Embedded CE 6.0

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology, invented in 1948, is not new. But its capabilities in today’s environment, especially when supported by a Windows Embedded product, offer opportunities beyond its original introduction. Shopping carts that record goods, update inventory, and transmit check-out information, hand-held devices that check in returned automobile rentals and provide the customer with a printed receipt, and portable scanners that identify assets, record their locations, and track their movement all rely on technology that accurately interprets information and can communicate in near or real time with a central location. Developing in Windows Embedded CE 6.0 offers componentized flexibility for a small footprint device, wireless communication, and integration with third-party applications.
