New Search Features

Searching for information is the most commonly performed task on the web. You'll now see results show up instantly as you start typing in the built-in search box; these results will become more accurate each time you type a letter! This function will be supported by a wide variety of search providers including Microsoft Live Search, Yahoo!, and Wikipedia

Search Suggestions

Now you can type a search term and see real-time search suggestions from your chosen search provider, recommending common searches related to the text that is typed. Click on a suggestion at any time to immediately execute the search, saving you time and increasing the relevance of the search.

Visual Search

Internet Explorer 8 is partnering with top search providers like Microsoft Live Search, Wikipedia, Amazon, New York Times and more to deliver direct results and "visual search" images that provide you with immediate answers.

Better Security and Privacy

Increased security, privacy and control of your data and information are key benefits of Internet Explorer 8.

Freedom from Intrusion

New features include: InPrivate Browsing, InPrivate Blocking and an enhanced Delete Browsing History. What this means to you is additional peace of mind and confidence while doing things you do online every day.

Improved User Protection and Control

Confidently bank, communicate & shop online using the benefits provided by new features such as SmartScreen Filter, InPrivate Browsing & Domain Highlighting.

Use Accelerators to search, map, e-mail, translate, or share content from any webpage you're currently viewing with just one click. Best of all, new Accelerators are being added to the Internet Explorer Gallery regularly to further enhance your browsing experience.

Web Slices

As part of our daily web browsing, most of us visit many different sites. Browsing directly to each of our favorite sites to stay up to date can be time consuming, and in some cases, not really possible. What if the most compelling content from our favorite websites was delivered to us instead? Internet Explorer 8 Web Slices brings it to you.

Web Slices allow you to subscribe to portions of your favorite websites and, with a single click in the Favorites bar, view and interact with the latest updates you care about most.
