Better security and privacy
Put the web at your service and experience the best browser for what you do every day—faster, easier, and safer than ever.
Freedom from intrusion
Increased security, privacy, and control of your data and information are key benefits of Internet Explorer 8. New features include: InPrivate Browsing, InPrivate Blocking, and an enhanced Delete Browsing History. What this means to you is additional peace of mind while doing the things you do online.
Now when you open an InPrivate Browsing session either through the Safety menu or new tab page, the browser session does not retain your browsing history; no data is stored in either your temporary files or your history. InPrivate Browsing is of great value when shopping for presents for others on a shared PC, or with using a public PC in an internet café.
With InPrivate Blocking, third party content providers can be blocked from tracking your online activities when you open an InPrivate Browsing session, providing you with the notice, choice, and control to allow or block them.
Internet Explorer 8 also has enhanced Delete Browsing History features which allow you to preserve your data and cookies in your favorites while deleting cookies, history, and other data from all the sites you've visited.
Improved user protection and control
Confidently bank, communicate, and shop online using the benefits provided by new features such as SmartScreen filter, InPrivate Browsing, and Domain Highlighting.
With SmartScreen filter, you can experience a higher level of protection against the rising threats of malware and malicious software that can compromise your data, privacy, and identity while also damaging your computer. Further enhancing Internet Explorer 7's phishing filter, Internet Explorer 8's new SmartScreen filter builds upon our leadership in the detection of phishing while providing added protection for you and your data.
Occasionally, deceptive sites will pretend to be trusted, well-known sites, often for malicious purposes. With the new Domain Highlighting feature in Internet Explorer 8 the domain name of a web address will be displayed in black with the remainder of the URL displayed in gray to help you proactively detect deceptive websites.

Also included in Internet Explorer 8:
Accelerators
Internet Explorer 8 Accelerators make it faster and easier to connect the web services you care about to any webpage you browse. There are tasks most of us use the web for every day, such as looking up addresses using a mapping service, sharing content on a social network, or searching for products from a retail service. Each of these tasks requires numerous steps from start to finish—until now. With Accelerators in Internet Explorer 8, we're making these experiences much simpler.

Web Slices
As part of our daily web browsing, most of us visit many different sites. Browsing directly to each of our favorite sites to stay up to date can be time consuming, and in some cases, not really possible. What if the most compelling content from our favorite websites was delivered to us instead? Internet Explorer 8 Web Slices brings it to you.
Web Slices allow you to subscribe to portions of your favorite websites and, with a single click in the Favorites bar, view and interact with the latest updates you care about most. See the latest headlines from your favorite news service, check the status of—or even bid—on an auction, or view status updates from your social network all without leaving your current page.
