Find Out Which Windows Operating System Your Computer Is Using

There are many versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system. You may be using Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, or another version. To make sure you know which version is on your computer:

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.

  2. In the box, type winver, and then click OK.

The window that appears will show you which version of Windows your computer is using. If your operating system has a service pack installed, you will see the service pack listed as shown in the following image:
