Microsoft Windows 95 OSR2 Fix (IFSMGR.VXD)

This update for Windows 95 OSR2 only fixes a problem that arises when you attempt to run a program with the Run option from the Start button and that program resides in directory that was created with DBCS characters. When attempting to start a program in this way, users get an error message saying that the file cannot be found. This does not happen with Windows 95 version 4.00.950 or 4.00.950A.
IMPORTANT: This update should only be installed on Windows 95 version 4.00.950B. This update should not be installed on systems that are Windows 95 version 4.00.950 and 4.00.950A. To determine the version of your system, double click on the Start button, select Settings, next select Control Panel and double click on the System icon.

Windows 95 Service Pack
The Microsoft Windows 95 Service Pack 1 includes an update, system administration tools, additional components, and drivers for Windows 95. To install the update included with Service Pack 1 on your computer, click Individual Users below. For more detailed information about each of the fixes included in the update, click here. After installing the update, your System properties will report version 4.00.950a.

Note: The Japanese version of the Windows 95 Service Pack is designed for the Japanese version of Windows 95. Do not install it on any other language version of Windows 95! International Versions.

Internet Explorer Download Instructions:
  1. You must be using the Japanese (PCAT) version of Windows 95 to run Internet Explorer.
  2. Click the link, "Internet Explorer."
  3. If you're using a previous version of Internet Explorer, click Open File to automatically upgrade your existing version.
  4. If you're using a different browser, save the file in a folder on your computer.
  5. Double-click the file to extract the program files from the executable file.
General Download Instructions:
  1. Click the file that you want to download.
  2. Save it in a folder on your PC.
  3. Extract the files from the executable by clicking the file.
