This update fixes a problem with the power saving function of the BIOS not being initiated as frequently as possible causing a shorter battery life on notebook computers compared to Windows 3.1.

This update is useful because it extends the life of the battery in notebook computers (up to 30 minutes) and significantly reduces possible heat build up. Users of NEC PC-9800 series notebook computers should install this update.

Create a temporary folder (directory) on your hard disk. Click the link "Update for Power Saving Functionality on Notebook Computers." Save the file in the new folder. In that folder, double-click vpowdupd.exe to install the program files.
