How to Set up Guide Listings

Your “all-in-one” Guide shows you the available broadcast and Internet TV listings in Windows Media Center. Use it to schedule broadcast programs you want to record or browse through the channels to see what's on TV. The Guide may contain up to 14 days of TV listings at a time, and you can download updated listings whenever you want.

Set up Guide listings

To find your favorite programs more easily, here’s how to configure your Guide to match your local service provider's guide listings.

1. On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, click settings, click TV, click Guide, and then click Set Up Guide Listings.

2. Follow the directions on the screen to set up Guide listings for your area.

   If you are asked to select a TV service provider, and you're not sure which one to select, check a recent bill or statement from your TV service provider to find the appropriate information.

   The providers listed in Windows Media Center vary by ZIP or Postal Code. If the provider you subscribe to is not listed for the ZIP or Postal Code you entered, try entering codes for nearby areas to find the appropriate Guide listings.

Automatically download Guide listings

You can set up Windows Media Center to automatically update Guide listings when you are connected to the Internet.

1. On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, click settings, click General, and then click Automatic Download Options.

2. Under Select download method for guide, click Download when connected to automatically download Guide information when you are connected to the Internet.

3. Click Save.

Manually download the latest Guide listings

You can also set up Windows Media Center to let you download the most recent Guide information manually.

1. On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, click settings, click TV, click Guide, and then click Get Latest Guide Listings.

2. 2. When prompted, select Yes to begin downloading the Guide listings.

You are notified when the Guide update is complete. You can continue to use Windows Media Center and the Guide while new Guide information is being downloaded.

To add a missing broadcast TV channel

1. On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, click settings, click TV, click Guide, and then click Add Missing Channels.

2. Click Add Channel.

3. Type the name of the missing channel, and then click Next.

4. Type the number of the missing channel, and then click Next.

5. If prompted, type the physical number of the missing channel, and then click Add.

6. Click Done.

To remove channels from the Guide

1. On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, click settings, click TV, click Guide, and then click Edit Channels.

2. Clear the check box to clear or delete a channel.

3. Click Save.

To edit channel numbers as they appear in the Guide

1. On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, click settings, click TV, click Guide, and then click Edit Channels.

2. Click Edit Numbers, and then make the changes you want.

3. Click Save.
