Let's take a moment to do a quick sanity check. To begin the testing phase, please ensure that you have an executed copy of the PlaysForSure Logo License Agreement from Microsoft,
and have fully completed Step 2 before moving forward.
Testing and verification of your
product(s)
is required prior to executing Exhibit C of the PlaysForSure Logo License Agreement, the last step before you can use the logo on qualified
product(s). The testing and verification process is performed by you using a self-test kit as well as verification testing by a certified Independent Test Lab (ITL) who will be using the same
test kit.
Self-Testing
After executing the PlaysForSure Logo License Agreement, you will receive test kit information by e-mail as described in
Step 2. The test kits are available from the Windows Hardware Developer Central Web site so check to make sure you have the most
up-to-date version. You will use the kits to test your
product(s)
against the requirements that must be satisfied in order to obtain the PlaysForSure logo.
Once your
product(s)
passes the self-test, you must submit your device for verification testing with an ITL. Please ensure that you are testing with final (RTM) firmware, as this is required by the ITL.
Verification Testing
Microsoft has arranged for National Software Testing Labs (NSTL) and Allion Test Labs to be the global, authorized Independent Test Labs for the PlaysForSure program. This verification
test is required to assure that devices are compliant with the requirements of the program. The specific process for submitting your products and other important information can be
found on each ITL’s Web site.
You and Microsoft will be notified by NSTL or Allion when products pass the test.
Once your
product(s)
have passed verification testing, you are ready to complete the Exhibit C corresponding to each verified product for which you want to use the logo.
Completing Exhibit C of the PlaysForSure Logo License Agreement
Before you are fully licensed to use the logo on your
product(s)
you will need to provide Microsoft with a completed Exhibit C of the PlaysForSure Logo License Agreement corresponding to each product for which you want to use the logo. Microsoft
must countersign Exhibit C and return to you your fully executed original.
Once Microsoft executes your Exhibit C, you are licensed to distribute the
product(s)
listed on the exhibit.
Note: Microsoft will not execute and return your Exhibit C until NSTL or Allion notifies us of your product
product(s)
passing the test. It may be advantageous to delay sending us your Exhibit C until you are notified that your product has passed the test.
Please send two originals of your signed Exhibit C to:
